Zweigelt fits perfectly into our estate’s Burgundy focus, especially as this variety is related to Pinot Noir.
Over the last several decades, Zweigelt developed a strong identity in Austria – especially in the Danube region – because Langenlois is the hometown of Dr. Zweigelt, who created this variety. The Zweigelt vineyards in Gobelsburg are found on banks of crushed gravelly stones that were formed during the last Ice Age. This wine exudes a shiny ruby red colour with a light violet tone. On the nose is fruitiness with hints of cherries along with spicy nuances. The full body with delicate notes make this wine an all-around food companion.
